Spiraea Van Houtte shrubs are one of the prettiest bushes you can plant in any yard.
During the spring, their small white flowers are beautiful and have a pleasant aroma. The flowers are about 1/3” each in diameter. Spiraea comes from the Greek word speira which means wreath because of their beautiful white flowers.
The leaves of the Spiraea Van Houtte bush are green, and during the spring, the entire bush will be covered in tiny white flowers. During the fall, their leaves can turn red, gold, and orange, making a nice fall display.
Our Spiraea Van Houtte shrubs each grow about 7’ to 10’ wide, so give them enough room to grow when planting them together. They should be trimmed only after the flowers have faded. They don’t necessarily need pruning. When not pruned, they can look like a fountain of white flowers in the spring. They are great for borders, hedges, foundations, or planted on their own.
Thanks to their tolerance for different types of soil and some drought conditions, they are easy to maintain in most environments.
Spiraea Van Houtte Shrubs have a medium growth rate. They attract butterflies, but deer avoid them.
