Beginning and experienced gardeners alike love spirea bushes (Spiraea) for their eye-catching beauty, fast growth rate, hardiness and the fact that it's incredibly easy to grow. The spirea shrub does best when planted in full sun or light shade. Place your Spirea plant in well-drained soil; they hate having wet feet. Spiraea is typically used for in a perennial garden, as a foundation plant, or as hedges or borders. Most spireas varieties bloom in late spring to mid-summer. Pink Spirea (Spiraea X Vanhouttei)is an excellent smaller ornamental shrub that provides plenty of pink flowers in the spring or early summer. Because of its delicate leaves and foliage, however, the flowers can sometimes be too heavy. The Bridalwreath Spirea produces a cascading streamer of flowers around April. It's a real show-stopper, making it an excellent specimen plant.
