Rue anemone, also known as Thalictrum thalictroides, is a woodland perennial that is native to regions across the eastern part of North America.

At maturity, this plant can grow up to 6 to 10 inches tall. Rue anemone prefers partial shade but it will tolerate full shade. It also prefers humus-rich soils that are moist and well-drained but it will tolerate dry soils. It also prefers soils that are acidic but it will tolerate alkaline soils. It would be beneficial to grow this plant by using leafmold or spreading a shallow layer of mulch. Moreover, it is beneficial to plant rue anemone under deciduous trees. Note that this small plant has a slow to medium growth rate and attracts spring pollinators like bees. It does not, however, attract pests or serious diseases.

Oftentimes, this plant is used for landscaping, particularly mass planting and creating borders.

It is also used to create wildflower gardens. This plant does not require a substantial amount of maintenance, so its pruning can be conducted whenever possible. Note that this plant is not favored by deer so it is likely that they will not consume it. Also, note that this plant cannot tolerate urban pollutants so it is best to plant it in environments that do not contain large amounts of those pollutants. Regarding its physical characteristics, this plant has round leaves that are light green with a reddish hint. This plant also has flowers that are typically white or pink in color. These flowers bloom during the springtime.
