We ship all plants usps priority mail. They arrive to most locations within 2-3 days. We package all plants to retain moisture to up to 10 days in transit. All plants ships from our warehouses in Tennessee. All plants are grown and shipped from out Altamont (zip) 37301 location. We do drop ship for re-sellers also for those wanting to resell our plants.
How We Protect Your Plants For Transit
All plants are dug and immediately taken to our warehouse and tera-sorb moisture retention gel is applied to the roots and then wrapped in plastic to retain superior moisture for transit. They are placed in corogated cardboard shipping boxes for protection when shipped
Upon Receipt Of Your Plants
Upon receipt of your plants, unpack and unwrap the roots and mist with water. Plant within 24-48 hours. If you can not plant within this time frame, put your plants in a cool location (ex- basement, garage or cellar) and water the roots daily. Cover them back up with the plastic so they will not dry out until you can plant them. After planted, water every evening after the sun goes down for 5 days.

River Oats is an ornamental grass with a range of planting zones 3-9.
The bloom season for River Oats runs June through September. It is a beautiful transition during its blooming season. The coloration of the bamboo-like leaves turn a blue-green in spring and an intense deep green by May. They turn a bright yellow-gold in direct sunlight. It weathers the winter a light brown color. It turns gray and does appear relatively poor looking by February. This is the general timeframe to cut it back.

Categorized as a caryopsis, it is a dry, one-seeded fruit that is characterized as a grass. It produces a large oat looking spikelet that hangs and droops off its small branches. These seed heads reseed aggressively.
Their height can range from 2 to 4 feet, but it can appear taller due to the branches growing out of the middle and the oat like seedlings that hang above it.
River oats grass grows best with a lot of moisture. It can be grown in sand, loams, and clay if the soils are kept moist. If planted in direct sunlight, just make sure it receives more water.
It is best grown in partial shade. Again, if it is planted in direct sunlight, it will require more water. It has a low tolerance of direct sunlight unless it is receiving water regularly.
River Oats is a perennial grass that is appealing and provides for ground cover to help prevent erosion. It is low maintenance unless planted in direct sunlight. It is enjoyable to watch its seasonal color transitions and, when dried, makes for a filler addition to any arrangement.
