Sun Perennials are great plants to incorporate into the landscape. Most of these varieties need full sun. Many of these combine beautifully to give you full-season garden design.
Perennials die back in winter but return yearly with little effort on the gardener’s part.
Bee balm or Monarda is a member of the mint family, with large red, pink, and purple tubular flowers. They are notorious for attracting hummingbirds. Picking the flowers encourages fresh blooms.
Perennial sunflowers have smaller seed heads than their annual cousins, though the blooms are similar. They require full sun, and can get quite tall – so be sure to allow them room to grow. They may require staking during bloom, which is in late summer to fall.
Daisies are generally white with a yellow center. Often picked by kids as gifts for their mothers and grandmothers, or to make daisy chain necklaces. The qunitessential summer flower.
