Pond Lily

Pond Lily - Nymphaea

Pond Lily is a mesmerizing and gorgeous flower. They seem to have a timeless beauty to them since they seem to appear from nowhere in the middle of the lake, and they just float majestically around on top of the water. While these pond lilies tend to look like they are rather delicate, they are just as tough as they are beautiful. These flowers can grow in just about anything that holds water, such as a tub on your back patio or deck or in your lake of any size. They grow from tubers that grow in pots at the bottom of the tub or water. They then send stems up to the surface of the water where rounded leaves will develop and then the beautiful star-shaped blossom will appear and just float atop of the water. These flowers can grow in virtually any USDA Climate Zone. Most tend to bloom from spring all the way through fall. These flowers will go dormant during the winter months when the weather turns colder. Pond Lily make any plain or even a koi pond look even more exotic and tropical. Most of the plants will have a medium size bloom that will show during the day and close at night. During the winter, they will fade away and come back the next spring. Pond Lilies serve as shade and cool to the waterbeds that they surround, providing cool places for the wildlife of ponds and other beds of water. Pond Lilies are beautiful plants that accent any water garden very well.
