Pink Spirea Shrubs Bloom In Mid Spring
The Vibrant, Lively Characteristics of the Pink Spirea Plant
What is a Pink Spirea Shrub?
Five different types of spirea exist in the world today. It is most known for its beautiful pink flowers and its elegant, green foliage. The leaves turn red at the beginning of the spring and become dark green by the end. They can grow bountifully in the hardy planting zones 3 - 8. This means that they can be grown pretty much all over the United States except for Florida's southernmost tip.
The Pink Spirea prefers soil that is well-drained and has a pH somewhere between 6 and 7. This means that the ground can't be anywhere beyond neutral to slightly acidic soil.
Positive Characteristics of the Pink Spirea Shrub
- it is vibrant and pairs greatly with the foliage
- it is tough overall and deer resistant
- the flowers are a luminous, bright pink
- they grow very densely
- works great as a bordering plant
Vibrant and Pairs Greatly with the Foliage
The bold pink flowers on the Pink Spirea Shrub are a pleasant contrast to the intricate leaves surrounding them. The flowers are seemingly fluffy and look like pom poms. They have a cheery feel to them and look like tiny berries when they are not quite blooming.
Tough overall and Deer Resistant
The world has yet to understand why deer steer clear of the Pink Spirea plant. However, it is always a good thing when pests and animals choose not to destroy your plants. This is most likely a reason why they are so popular among gardeners.
The Flowers are a Luminous, Bright Pink
It isn't a surprise that the Pink Spirea plant's flowers are, in fact, pink. The name certainly comes from the luxurious pink chroma that sprinkles throughout this plant during blooming season. The flowers help contribute to this plant's size that can grow anywhere from three to six feet tall. This bright color also attracts bees and butterflies. This makes sense because they are beautiful plants that have colorful flowers and contribute to their pollination.
They Grow Very Densely
You will find yourself having to space out the Pink Spirea plant because it has a densely mounded habitat. It is best to space them out at least 24 inches apart to be safe. Either way, it is a great plant to add to your landscape or garden area. The jam-packed flowers are infatuating and can take your land to the next level of vibrance.
