The Carolina Rose is also known as the pasture rose or the low rose. It is considered a shrub in the rose family and is native to North America and thrives in hardiness zone 4 to 9. The shrub can be found in a variety of habitats from open woods to thickets to railroads and roadsides. The flowers are fragrant and bloom in early summer, typically beginning around May. The flower is light pink in color and the stems grow with thorns that are straight. Rather than curved..
